Curls Night Out- an extravaganza that is definitely Blog-worthy...
The cultivation of our local curly girls celebrating their hair and learning the newest tricks the Deva line has to offer, here at Wink. Truth be told, this year's event was bigger than any of us could have imagined.
Cal Ellis (the Curl-whisperer of Deva) and Shari Harbinger (business parter of Lorraine Massey- who founded the Devachan salon in Soho, NY) came to educate not only our stylists, but the whole party of curly girls, all night long!
With a DJ setting the mood, raffle give-a-ways, and the snack & bev flowing, the night was absolute perfection!

We curly girls relish in moments like these... when crazy curls- while just as worthy, are wrangled up into such tamed and awesome locks! Today we took advantage of Thirsty Thursday, hydrating this frizz into submission!
Snaps for Miss Theresa Sczudlo and her fantastic Deva magic!

In light of Earth Day having passed so recently, I thought this would be the perfect time to reflect on some of the amazing ways that we at Wink are striving to not only remain but improve upon our Green efforts- being the only Green-Certified-Salon in WNC, and influence those around us as well!

We:
-Use natural products whenever possible...
-And that's throughout the salon- with brands like KeraGreen, Paul Mitchell's Awapuhi Ginger Line, DermOrganics, and Deva- most are organic, all are free of sulfates and parabens.
-The Nail Nook with Essie and Shellac polishes are free of "The Big Three", being Dibutyl Phthalate (DBP), Formaldehyde and Toluene. We also encourage clients to bring their own flops to minimize on unnecessary waste.
-Also, in The Brow Bar, use vegetable based dyes.
-Use KeraGreen as an organic keratin hair smoothing system.
    -Use low and non-ammoniated products
    - Recycle paper, magazines, shipping supplies and all plastics waste from   products and whatever else we can justify not throwing away to be honest :) ...
-Serve beverages in real cups and glassware to cut back on waste
-Serve organic and fair trade tea and coffees
-Recycle ink cartridges and toner cartridges
-Mop up messes with cloth towel instead of paper towel
-Recycle discarded hair with Matter of Trust.org
-Send email marketing. This uses less paper than letters and postcards
-Turn off electronic devices when not in use
-Run on Tankless Gas water heaters
    -Use eco- friendly cleansing products
    -Use energy efficient lighting
-Use post consumer recycled products – toilet paper, printer paper, paper towel rolls, etc, as much as possible
-Use timer and air heat thermostatic controls
-Keep water heater thermostat 120 F
-Recycle clients old broken hair tools
    -Low flow toilet flushers
    -Water efficiency toilet tanks

Not only does Wink love You, but we love Mother Earth too!
