Happy Birthday to Us! Thank you for all you do!          

There aren't enough words to tell you how much we appreciate and love you for your loyal business throughout the years. This year Wink turns 6 and we start out 2011 with fresh changes: a green certification, a remodeling project, a new logo, new hires, and a deepened commitment to our education program.

These are exciting times to be in our hairdressing industry. The technology for hair color and hair care has amazed us. Salons have become very viable and important businesses in their community and the general public has grown to further appreciate

the art, talent and vigor it takes to be a successful stylist and salon. Whatever the "new black" is, we know that it's about customer service and we plan to continue to serve you - the coolest clients ever!

Green Certified

Wink is now Platinum certified by the Green Business League of America! Our salon is the first green certified salon in Asheville. We will join a growing number of salons in the US that have changed the way they are doing business. It takes a village, y'all!

Here are some of the things that we did:

•Changed from electric to tankless gas water heaters •The use of energy efficient light bulbs

•Low or no VOC paints and floor stain •Changed the tanks on the toilet to low flow

•Offer chemical free hair products •Offer Organic Color Systems Hair Color

•Offer Keragreen Hair System and Malibu Treatments •Recycle everything, including hair

Remodel

It was time to make some changes and give this place a little love, so remodeling has begun. We've added a shampoo bowl, rearranged stations, made new stations and we still have lots more to do. We've decided to keep our accessories and 30 local artists and say a tearful goodbye to clothes as we begin to expand the salon into the former "boutique,” that we started six years ago this month.

A HUGE hug to our outstanding crew who we highly recommend for any projects you might have:

Doug Ferguson with Design Logic helped with our blue prints and coordination of our projects.  We love him. Plumb Smart Technologies- Certified Green Plumbers, excellent customer service.  Eric Schenimann with All Phase Electric is incredible to work with and is a great electrician.  Jason Carliss,an amazing carpenter, and finally Lazaro Reyes- a master of all trades.  He and his licensed crew can do just about anything and are completely dedicated to customer service. They seriously went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of.

Education

We know hairdressers are destined to get better over time but you've got to put in the work. We've launched Wink University and have two classes per month using our talented staff as well as incredible stylists from our color and product companies.

We will need models, so please ask your stylist if there is  something you would be a good fit for.

Community

Get ready for a big event that we will be producing with LEAF/LEAF OUTREACH. The Rock and Roots Ball II- The Benefit of Culture. It will be a huge party with a conceptual art show designed by Wink and R. Brooke Priddy of Ship to Shore. This event will be held at The Highland Brewing Company Tasting Room June 25th and it's sure to be a great summer party for one of the most amazing programs in the city.
